Designed to take advantage of the views from the family's rolling property in the far western suburbs of Chicago, this home provides five bedrooms and generous living spaces for a growing family. Two key desires of the owners were met through the One-Watt-House process by designing a true timber frame structure with a structurally insulated panel (SIP) curtain wall. This provided an extremely energy efficient building envelope while allowing for expansive use of exposed wood and stone on the interior an exterior of the house. CTI provided schematic design, engineering and initial cost estimating for the project.
